CHAPTER 21

“Ivy? Ivy?” a woman chanted my name. Something warm on my chest pulled me out of my nightmare. I was dreaming of an elephant jizzing on me. So, the thick sticky stuff getting rubbed into my skin startled me awake.

I jerked forward. My mind was still fuzzy with sleep. “I don’t want the elephants come on me. Get it off,” I grumbled. My movement was weak. My body was heavy.

The woman laughed. “The elephant got too excited. You should wake up and show it who's boss.”

Yeah, that’s what I’ll do. I needed to teach that elephant… The sleepy fog slowly lifted. Elephant?

My eyes opened. Confusion wrinkled my forehead. Vivian hovered over me with a huge smile, and my lipstick was still smeared on her face. “The elephant did a number on your chest, Master, I’ve never seen so much sperm,” she joked. Her giggle bounced off my bedroom walls.

I glanced down. If that gooey, clear stuff on my chest didn’t smell like mint, I’d have freaked out. The energy balm Marnie made me could pass for sperm. Probably intentional, the brat.

“I’d say thanks, but I hate you right now. That’s nasty,” I grumbled.

She smiled even brighter. “That’s okay. I’m just glad you’re fine. I finally found your stash. The building healed me and showed me where it was. Let me wake Lilah,” Vivian said.

She rolled Lilah over. I closed my eyes and let my magic pour back into me. If I moved, this process would hurt.

Refilling your magic was like filling up a water balloon. If you had a slow steady flow of water, the balloon would fill perfectly. If I moved or forced the process, the balloon would break.

“Ow, my head. Get off,” Lilah moaned. “Did I get hit by a bus?”

Vivian snickered. “No, we got drained because of our kickass Master showing off her skills.” Lilah groaned. “We should do this more often. You two are hilarious.”

“Shut up,” Lilah and I said at the same time. That just made Vivian laugh harder as she rubbed some of the elephant sperm, I mean energy balm, on Lilah’s chest. Lilah sighed gratefully.

“All right, we missed the first class, but we’ll make it to the second class. If anyone asks what happened, Ivy can blame it on one of us. Say we freaked out or peed ourselves. I don’t know,” Vivian said and plopped down on the bed. The bouncing made me groan. Pain swam down my spine.

“Vivian.”

“Sorry, Master.”

No one said anything for a while. We just laid there letting our demon side recharge our souls. The universe gave demons the ability to heal from almost anything. Maybe to keep things balanced. The universe worked hard to keep harmony. Light Souls might have better lives these days, but Dark Souls had better powers. Even if there weren’t tons of strong ones. If thousands of powerful demons that could recharge their magic quickly were to be set loose on Earth, the humans would be in trouble. Which was why they worked so hard with their technology to best us.
